1 Corinthians 3:1-4 / As we enter chapter 3, Paul addresses the biblical dynamics behind our spiritual growth. What we will discover is that our own lack of faithfulness is all that stands to hinder our spiritual development.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5 / We have learned that the gospel is the “power of God” unto those who believe. We have learned that the gospel is foolishness to the world but to us the true wisdom of God. But how to wear that power and how to wear that wisdom is often lost on us. Today Paul gives us a framework for what it means to hide ourselves in the gospel.

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 / Every Christian at some point has struggled with self-doubt, asking themselves “how can God use me”? In 1 Corinthians today we address the issues of faith, pride and humility. Why do some people refuse God? What are the implications of humbling ourselves enough to receive him? How can he make me useful in his mission?

1 Corinthians 1:18-25 / In Paul’s letter he recently addressed the disunity found among the believers in the church in Corinth. Today we find him uncovering the source of such disunity - human and worldly wisdom that makes the cross of Christ foolish. But what man call’s foolish, God calls wise and so we learn today how to live in the power of God’s wisdom.

1 Corinthians 1:10-18 / In Paul’s letter to the church of Corinth, he begins addressing some of the specific issues that exist, namely divisions among the members. In todays sermon we take the time to consider how to have biblical unity in our church family and how to avoid some common pitfalls of division.

1 Corinthians 1:1-9 / As Paul opens his letter to Corinth, he begins with a cordial introduction. He is kind and generous in his acknowledgements but also strategic. Paul uses his greeting to lay the groundwork for the whole of the letter and to remind the church of some very important truths that perhaps they may have forgotten.

This sermon is an introduction to the book of 1 Corinthians. As we begin this series, we take time to empathize with the Apostle Paul as he weighs all that it will cost him to invest in the city of Corinth. We will ask ourselves the very personal question, ‘is our city worth the time, energy and faith required to see it redeemed for the glory of God?”
